Was definitely the MAF. Bought a new Bosch one from ECS, plugged it in, and car fires up and drives without issue.
I am now at least able to drive around town while I work out the kinks. I appreciate all the help in this thread
help! Swap cranks but no start

Yes to all of the above. I may have a small leak at the brake booster grommet, but not enough to kill the car. I can hear it leak if I wiggle the hose, but it either isn't leaking normally, or its small enough I can't hear it at restLeave a comment:

All throttle body boots properly seated? ICV to airbox hose hooked up? Airbox drain hose hooked up? Brake booster vac line hooked up?Leave a comment:

I have the K&N typhoon intake, so the maf only goes in one direction or else the holes don't line up. If it is plugged in it dies immediately.
ICV to air box connection is good. With the air box not installed and/or all sorts of hoses unplugged (started a few times while testing various things) which would be a much greater vacuum leak, the car runs indefinitely even that way, as long as the maf is unpluggedLeave a comment:

Sure maf isnt in backwards or you dont have mega vac leak (Icv line to airbox)?Leave a comment:

Ok, it looks like that was at least most of the problem. I replaced the throttle actuator with a used one and now when I push the pedal the throttles open!
However after reconnecting everything, now the car dies immediately after trying to start it, it no longer continues to run like it did before. Literally starts and runs for 1 second then dies. Its not EWS as the car was running indefinitely a few days ago.
Edit...the MAF is toast too. No wonder i am having a hell of a time figuring this swap out. Literally almost none of the parts are working.
Car runs with maf unplugged. If it's plugged in it starts and immediately dies.
After replacing the throttle actuator and clearing codes, now the only code I get is p0102 - maf sensorLast edited by diesekte; 02-13-2016, 03:51 PM.Leave a comment:

Throttle actuator was very difficult/near impossible to turn by hand. Started pulling it apart and...
...think this was my problem?Leave a comment:

If I key on and push the pedal nothing happens. With engine running if I push pedal nothing happens.
Codes I get are:
P0121
P0123
P0221
P0335
P2122
P2126
P1637Leave a comment:

They will move when you key on and do a self test then while still keyed on they will acutate with the pedal with the engine not running. This is 100% for sure.
OBD2 reader does work and you can pull codes? What codes? By that premise ECU is at least powered on.Leave a comment:

I tried to reset throttle adaptation with 'key on 10 sec' procedure 3 or 4 times and it never changed anything.
INPA still doesn't seem to be working for me, and even with bmwlogger, all I get is a cable is not connected message, though it will read battery voltage and ignition on, it won't do anything else. As I said before though, the OBD2 reader does work...so the ECU is functioning if it is creating and storing codes??
I shot an email off to the shop that did my tune. They're going to look at the .bin and get back to me.Last edited by diesekte; 02-03-2016, 06:47 PM.Leave a comment:

If pedal does not react- something wrong (Test a pedal and wiring, cause when you turn ignition on- throttles must react on pedal)Leave a comment:

Desertbmw- I didn't say I was too cheap to buy it, I said I couldn't find a legit looking copy. Are the ones off ebay ok/do they work? Otherwise I don't really know where to get it. The ecu was supposedly hooked up to and tested on an e46 m3 by the tuner
Bmwfanz- throttle does not react when moving pedal. Ground from passenger side engine mount arm to chassis is good. Am I missing another?
Dave- will get bmwlogger and give it a shot. It was flashed by clown shoe motorsports in dallas. I wanted someone local to me in case I ended up having a dme issue. I may have to pay them a visit...Leave a comment:
