I saw a post by nando stating it's possible to run the N52 with an MSV80. However, it seems most everyone on this subforum that has a running car has used an MSV70, and a backdated wiring harness if the car came with an MSV80. Is there a reason for this? Thanks!
Which DME and wiring to use

We're using the backdated wiring harness to get the Z4 IVM, puts all the fuses (except main power) and relays in one place. I've only found a couple pins different between MSV70 and 80, they use the same connectors; could use any N52 harness just switch pins around to match your ECU. I went with MSV70 based off the original N52 thread and Nando's swap tune. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get in touch with Nando for the swap.
I think I'm the Guinea Pig for trying another tuner, the ones I know of all used Nando. My MSV70 ECU is off with 22RPD for the swap tuning. I used them because I know they have done some work on another E30 running an N52. I won't know if their swap stuff works as well as what Nando created until I get it back and get the engine in though.Last edited by Striker01; 06-18-2024, 03:49 PM. -
The late model harness will plug into the DME but you will need Z4 connectors for the IVM. I had 2 Z4 harnesses and one e90 one that I used parts from to make my harness. If you use only the late model harness you may have to re-pin some wires.
I can send you the remnants of the harnesses I used. Should get you all the IVM connectors except the X60191. I used a BMW radio pigtail I found on ebay and trimmed the tabs to fit, see LUKEJ's thread for that info. It doesn't come with the Z4 harness because I assume it was on the body side harness on Z4s.Comment
