I bought my swap project donor car 2007 328i for very cheap and it has the dreaded MSV80 with water damage but I want to go MSV70 route anyway. There are people swapping MSV70 to MSV80 and it just needs few changes done like two wires and another MAF sensor. I can already tune MSV70 and got few already done. I want to make sure engine and transmission are working all fine before I start removing it for my project. The EWS delete solution for MSV80 is not ideal as far as I heard.

X60005 had 2 differences that I noticed. Everything else pinned out the same, verified with a continuity check. Both differences are in the hot-film air mass meter wiring. The Z4 had 4 wires running to it. It has a supply line from the ECU on pin 25 that isn't there on the e90 harness. I'm hoping it's not needed because it also had a power run from the Green connector, now connected to the IVM. I pulled that wire and went with the E90 MAF/connector that came with my donor car. Please let me know if I need to add it back for MSV70.
The other change is that the E90 has a signal wire on pin 4 of X60005 and the Z4 has it on pin 26.
You will need the Z4 MAF for MSV70 and then verify it's pinout.
Another small change is that the Z4 provides power to some of the crab harness using 2 separate wires on pins 4 and 5 of X60193, the E90 only had one wire for those same components. I got rid of pin 4 and used the single power wire on the E90. That shouldn't make a difference as pins 4,5,7 and 8 are all powered from fuse 1.
If I remember right, this will be transparent, depending on which harness you use, if you go with the IVM.
My wiring is based on the E85 code for MSV70 and IVM for power. In this configuration you will need the "CAN 11h" EKP and Z4 MAF. I have an extra EKP I'd be happy to send you but don't remember if it has a pigtail attached. The harnesses are plug and play between 70 and 80.

The way I see it here MSV70 has separate relay for the injectors and one more extra wire when compared to MSV80. This means that one really needs the MSV70 engine harness. Doesn't say anything about EKP controller
