I recently bought a 1991 Brilliant Red 325ix, and for the past few months have been picking away at it. Anyway, going into the deal I knew that the splines on both the T-case and Driveshaft were both toast. But for the selling price, condition of the car, and the fact that the seller was including a working, very low mile T-case with good VC (Both T-cases have good VC's actually), I jumped on it.
My original plan was to use the new T-case with an OEM shaft from BMW. But after some pricing (Cheapest shaft available was $425) and research, I decided that the best plan of action was to get the cheaper but also longerlasting lengthened driveshaft from the contact listed on both the iX Registry as well as e30tech.com. Historically, It seems like John Smith, of Picayune MS, is a very reliable supplier of this part, but I'm begining to get a little worried now.
I first contacted John on May 11, telling him I was planning on shipping him the shaft that week. John responded with his Address to send both the Core and $365 Money Order. I ended up sending the two things out on May 20. John responded two days later, saying he had recieved both, and that he would send the lengthened shaft out the following Wednesday.
Well, the following wednesday was nearly two weeks ago, and no shaft. He emailed me over a week ago asking me for my address (Which seemed odd, as my address was not only on the box I shipped the core to him in, as well as written on an envelope inside the box). I promtly emailed him back, and there has been no word from him thus far. I emailed him again yesterday, no word. I tried calling him today, but the number listed is no longer valid.
I do trust this guy, as it seems lots of iXers have sourced their lengthened shaft from him, but the lack of communication and him taking an excessive amount of time to follow through have gotten me a little worried.
Has anyone else had a similar experiance with this source?
