Where can I have my center diff rebuilt, or exchanged for reman?

Also I took a look at realoem and it gives me the part number 27001226481 which is discontinued, would a newer diff 87-up work p/n27241226401 work on my case or do i need a newer case?

That is an interesting question. I have never seen the pre 87 case or vc. Post up some pictures of your case and vc and I'm sure some one here can tell you.

the new part superceeds the old one, don't worry about it. there are minor differences internally (different chains and sprockets) but they function the same and are cross compatible.

I've seen that post, but my problem is I don't have the tools here to perform this. Someone offered their service over there: http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=85741
