the head damage was due to a broken timing belt. the guy i bought it from tried to just replaced the timing belt without replacing the head.... lol. he removed the radiator and all the belts before even removing the valve cover to check the damage. good thing he only owned it for 2 months.
i've seen some really good looking 88s that kept the diving boards. reiger lip added. low added. it looks good. i think i'll leave it till i find good condition plastics at the yard for cheap.
