    The car has started to chatter when I turn... time for a new front diff?

    Oh yeah, car is an 88 with north of 300k on it. Front/Rear diff and tcase are original.

      not likely unless you've been doing hard drag launches with a turbo :p

      most likely it's clicking CV's. how do your CV boots look?

        boots are good. I replaced the driver's side axle/boots a couple of years ago, and did the passenger side last summer.

          ok.. so now it's making noise when I'm driving in a straight line. It's howling now, and only howls at low speeds. It doesn't stop when I change gears or push in the clutch, so I'm thinkin it's the tcase or somethin with the trans. Any ideas? This thing is gunna blow!

            hub bearings?

              Don't think so. I think those would make noise at all speeds. The sound seems to be coming from the transmission tunnel.

                Did you ever figure out what was causing the noise? Im experiencing the same thing at low speeds in traffic, and its only in first and second gear.
