    replacing struts

Any reason I can't pull the struts out of my ix while leaving the housings connected to the CA, Tie rod, and axle? I know I can replace 2wd struts this way but i'm not positive I can do it with an ix.

I wasn't even aware you could do that with a 2wd car. I've always just removed the whole assembly.

It's gonna be next to impossible on an iX on account of the axles.

Do you say this because you think I couldn't angle them out from the fender enough because the axles won't rotate enough?

you will at times have to remove the 2 bolts on the lollipop from the CA. but other than that, yes.

remove the 2 bolts on the lollipop. remove the nuts on the hat. remove the hat and spring perch. reattach the lollipop (for leverage.) use a plumbing monkey wrench to break the shock free. unscrew it and remove it up and out of the suspension tower into the engine bay. once its out, the spring is easily removed.

i would take that side body panel off as well becasue itll give you another half foot of room to play around with and it will only take 2 seconds and you dont have to worry about scratching anything
