    Thanks everyone. Is replacing these lines a big-ish job? I was just looking in from the rear wheel well, and it looks like they may be difficult to get to. Thanks for the link Mr. Audiquattrot.

    I just picked up this 89 iX auto. I paid $700. I'm pretty sure that was a damn good deal, even if it needs some tinkering. It's not my DD, as I have a small suv that I work out of. So, I've got lots of time to play with the iX.

    I had an 89 325i 5-speed sedan about ten years ago, and I beat the shit out of it, then drove it to Alaska and back, put 100000 miles on it and sold it so I could get a 87 535is. MISTAKE. The 5 was fine, just not simple enough, and too heavy for me. So, I got the iX now and I feel like I've come home.
