    89 325ix wont shift to 4th

    As the title says, the car wont shift into 4th. It shifts in and out of all other gears with ease. It does not shift hard,slip or do anything weird other than act like 4th gear does not exist.

    Does anyone have any ideas as to how or why this would happen, Thanks in advance

      sorry should have added that it is a automatic. You can count the shifts in the car, first to second, second to third but it never goes into overdrive.

              Throttle/ kickdown position cable. Make sure its properly adjusted.
              Also insure theres enough fluid in the tranny.
              What're your rpms at highway speeds?
