    Towing another car

Pulling a car to be more specific. My e36 is busted and I need to move it from my garage, literally up the hill from my place into another garage. I'm transferring into a different unit at the same apartment complex and I don't think I'll be able to get the M3 running in time.
I know the M3 is pushing the towing capacity of the IX but I'm hoping to just use the tow hook on the rear bumper and thread another onto the front bumper of the m3 and use a really strong rope. My concern is getting up the hill, its fairly steep and I'm not too sure if this is something the IX is capable of or if I need to find a better alternative, which actually means a cheaper alternative.

I think it will be fine. generally you can use a class 1 hitch (~2000lbs) but the tow hook is definitely rated for at least the E30's weight (and a good bit more). especially if it's just up the street, you should have enough HP to do it.

That was my hope. I've pulled cars around with a tow rope when I was a dealership employee. Pulling busted x5's with our e90 335i loaner was a daily occurrence. However, I've never had to deal with icy roads and the really bad incline, that was my primary concern. After double checking, it doesn't appear to be as daunting as I originally thought.

Only thing I'd be worried about is the clutch wear.

Should be fine. Put it in first and take it slow.

just remember that whoever is in the E36 needs to HAVE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND TURNED TO THE ON POSITION. Because steering locks suck.

Yes....I'm more worried about the person in the e36 keeping good pressure on the brakes when necessary so the tow rope doesn't have any slack in it. But this should be a laugh for my neighbors and the property managers
