    who rebuilds front axles?

I have three pairs of front axles. All unknown condition, most have torn boots. I want to look into getting the three pairs rebuilt or at least gone through and have them repacked with grease and new boots on. Any shops? I'll ship them

Front axles aren't supposed to be rebuilt. Says BMW. The most you can do to them is out new boots and grease in it. Have you checked how much they charge for brand new ones? It's ridiculous

interesting. well I guess I would just need a shop to take them apart, asses if the CV joints are bad and put them back together with new boots and grease. I could probably find a shop near me to do this. Where is a good place to find boots?

I haven't checked prices for awhile, over 1k i'm guessing.

just rebooted a spare set of axles i recently purchase with cracking boots virtually no wear on the internal parts as the boots were intact just starting to crack (125k on them). best place to buy the boots is Pelican parts $7.75 outer and $ 11.25 inner factory GKN loebro (i just got 4 sets which works out to $76 and gets free shipping )

Suspension & Steering auto parts for BMW 3-Series E30 (1983-1991): Differential Oil Pumps and other parts related to Axles, Bearings & Differential

had to use a CV joint press to get one outer off other came apart easily ,just a very messy job ....

Just talked to them and it sounds like it is 160 out the door. I'm catching a little break by sending them three pairs. The rep. sounded like he was familiar with the ix fronts and their rarity.

^ that sound like a good deal. My local axle shop said they would clean, repack, and reboot a pair for $80. That isn't a rebuild though, just a good refresh.

So its $160 each meaning $320 for the set?

what do you need this for? your front boots aren't torn up or screwy. you need to get an alignment for that thing first damn it.

that is my understanding, yes. Unless it is 160 for the pair. That would be a nice surprise.
