Newly rebuilt transfer case leaking tranny fluid?

Had a place rebuild my transfer case, refilled it w/ tranny fluid (which seemed to have only taken 1/2 qt of fluid.....put all new seals & new breather cap.

Been noticing since then, that the transfer case is coated in tranny fluid. Its tough to figure where the leak is coming from, but I'm hoping we filled it too much, and is just escaping from the breather valve?

Can anyone shed some light on where else it could be coming from?

    THanks

the most likely seals to leak are the front output shaft seals. there are two and they need to be put in in a specific orientation. they face each other, essentially. 1/2 quart sounds about right. it's not really possible to overfill it..

How big of an undertaking is this rebuild. I am pulling the whole engine/trans/tcase and I want to replace all the leaky seals. It does not look to dificult

Is isn't if you've done it before. Otherwise... it's a challenge. I was fortunate to have the factory manual.

I now (maybe I did before - but didnt see evidence) have a leak on my transfer case. It looks like it is coming from the front shaft connection.

I replaced ALL the fluids over the past week (I did the diffs, trans and transfer case last night and I filled the trans and transfer case this AM). I noticed fresh clean atf leaking.

Could cleaning everything (years of minor grime mixed with fluid residue and old cosmolean) and filling with new fluid cause (or activate) the leak?

I did not remove the shaft

Also, is the head gasket a common oil leak source on the engine? I have a flow of oil coming from the right front - seems to be coming from the head/block.
