You are supposed to take the 4 bolts off the guibo(flex disk which you did) then take the nuts off the bolts where it connects to the diff and remove the bolts that hold the CSB to the body. the drive shaft should bend at the universal joint and come off. The driveshaft doesn't need to be broken in two to be removed.

This is an IX model. The shaft is complete from diff to transcase. \

      Am I wrong?

I believe you should be able to collapse it enough to get it out of there if its not too rusted. Mine was super rusted so I didn't even attempt this. Rather I dropped the rear diff to gain clearance. I struggled quite a bit putting the rear diff back up into place afterward though and getting it lined up just right to start the top bolts, but that may have just been me.

there is no CSB on the rear shaft. unbolt guibo and collapse the slip yoke on the driveshaft at the diff end.

The rear driveshaft collapses but need to be unlocked. If you look to the rear of the shaft it has threads. I can't recall which way to loosen but it needs to be unlocked so the shaft can collapse.

Not sure what you mean by locking and unlocking.
Here is a pic of mine collapsed.

              and then extended.

This end that is pictured attaches to the differential
