Does anyone know roughly what size the hose clamps are for the front axle boots?

I wanna order screw on style clamps since right now I have a wire tie and two zip ties holding them on which was supposed to be temp....and it's spewing out a little grease.

The oem ones use those weird squeeze clamps which I'd rather not use.

Www.mcmaster.com has every style hose clamp....but searching thru their site I realized I have no idea what size I'm looking for. I wanna make sure it's narrow enough since from what I remember the boot doesn't really give much surface width for the clamp

Think about this - there must be a reason the stock clamps are crimp on and not screw clamps. In fact, all cv joints use crimp style, you never see annything else.

Yea dude, that's a big negative on using hose clamps on axle boots. For one thing, balance.

For another, hose clamps come loose. All you need is a set of diagonal cutters if you don't have the right tool. There is really no reason not to use the correct part for this job.

Lowes has Otiker style metal band clamps that work just as well. They are in the elecrical section, contractor supplys. Electricians use them somewhere.

Thanks for the advice...just ordered all new oem clamps and bought a crimping tool from eBay.....was choosing to use a screw style clamp since I didn't have the tool...but realized they were inexpensive. I totally forgot I temporarily used zip ties and wire tires when I replaced all the axle boots last summer. Whoops lol
