How to remove rear case of transmission?

I have a cracked rear case on my IX manual transmission. I have removed all the bolts and can only get the rear case to move backwards about 1/4". I removed the bolt at the rear of the case that has the spring rod inside, but still won't pull back. I shifted into several gears and still won't move. How does this rear case come off?

it's the same as any Getrag 260. I think the bentley has a rebuild howto on the manual trans?
