Looking for a Front Drive Shaft

    Hello,

    Looking for a little help.

I am in need of a Front Drive Shaft for a 325ix.

I received one from another forum, but the splines were worn. I will need a pic of the splines, so not to get burned again.

Any help or leads would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

The issue is there is not a way to "remanufacture" them, and only BMW is making them. Though I have seen some custom ones but they are $$$. I've got a spare one for mine. I got lucky, the dealership had one, and had had it since 1994. So they let it go for $300

this isn't true, they can definitely be re-splined. There were people doing this in the past, but I don't know if they still do it, and it was cheaper than a new one.

Anyone know the process of "re-splining" ? How is that done?

they cut off the splined section, weld in a new peice of steel, and use a gear cutter to cut new splines.

there's probably more details, but that's basically it.

                  Found this:

                  Also,

Has anyone tried a Loctite repair?

Apparently Volvo's AWD had similiar problems with a TNN bulletin that had customers using Loctite to seal and repair shafts..
