Leak sources on iX automatic sedan??? HELP

I now (maybe I did before - but didnt see evidence) have a leak on my transfer case. It looks like it is coming from the front shaft connection.
I replaced ALL the fluids over the past week (I did the diffs, trans and transfer case last night and I filled the trans and transfer case this AM). I noticed fresh clean atf leaking.

Could cleaning everything (years of minor grime mixed with fluid residue and old cosmolean) and filling with new fluid cause (or activate) the leak?
I did not remove the shaft

Also, is the head gasket a common oil leak source on the engine? I have a flow of oil coming from the right front - seems to be coming from the head/block.

As for your head leak... the rear of the valve cover gasket leaks like a mother if not sealed properly.

Xcase, I recently flushed mine and it began to weep after. Road debris and dirt soak up leaking fluid, so when you clean it, it appears to suddenly leak. I concluded that I need new seals, which I will tackle shortly.

Can the seals be replaced without dropping the case? I know the drive shaft will need to come out

I noticed only the output for the front driveshaft leaks - I was looking at the parts diagram on realoem and there only seems to be one seal (and circlip)

Is there more than one - or are you referring to replacing all the seals?

Since you need to drop the xcase, you might as well replace all the seals that way you don't have to do it again.

ugh, really? the case has to be dropped to replace that lower seal?

            damn

there are two seals on the front, not one.

you can do it in the car but it requires special tools.

Where does one get the VC fluid - if I am going to pull the unit I will replace the stuff

I need to do the jack test

                  VC fluid?

it's not really something you can change. if it hasn't leaked out, there's no reason to do it, either. you'd have to put the VC on a lathe, cut it apart, inspect the disks for wear (they don't normally touch but if overheated they can warp), then fill with the proper viscosity fluid to the correct air/fluid ratio (not easy), and weld it back together without damaging your new rubber seal that can only handle 250 degrees.

the trans fluid that lubricates the chain and bearings is something else entirely. the VC is 100% sealed and self contained. basically if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Got it. Thank you. From some of the write ups I have seen. It's dropping the rear and front driveshafts and taking apart the case while still on car
