changing boots out on front axles...NEED HELP

So I was able to get the axle out..

all boots are off. Now to getting this so call "bitch clip off". I was able to get one off but just pulling it out with some pliers. It slide out easy. But now the other end that goes to the other side is not coming out so easily. I was about to get the clip off but shouldnt it just slide off?

Whats holding it in still? or does it need to be tapped out harder?

    Any help would be great!!

If I recall correctly, the clip is spread apart and the joint slides off. Not easily of course. My boot kit came with new clips so on the one I have was unsuccessful with, I grasped and pulled hard and it came out. Try to do it right firs. Before the pull technique. Hope this helps.

when i did mine about 6 months ago on my spare axles (i just removed the outer joints and slid inner boot down length of shaft )the first one was so tight on the splines that i had to use the shop C/V press to remove it and even then i didnt think i was going to come off . second one came off with tap of the deadblow hammer . so yes sometimes they can be very tight on the splines (like they didnt get machined properly)

fortunately it went back on easier than it came off....

the thing that really helps with this is putting the axles in a vice (with rag or something so you don't scratch it of course).

you can do it while standing on the axle but it's sooo much more frustrating.

exactly what i was gonna recommend. I put mine on a vice, and was able to take a couple shots to it w/ a mallet...and finally broke free.

I purchased mine from pelican parts also. I was pretty happy with them. Hopefully ill finally get to drive this baby. Ive got a control arm coming in on Friday to replace on the left side. This restore has been harder than I thought....
