    Growling from steering,..squealing new belts???

I did a few searches on here and they yielded a little info.

    In a nutshell,....

I start the car, and as soon as I turn the wheel I get growling.

Since its now turned cold, I also get terrible squealing, which I'm thinking is perhaps the belts (or a specific belt??...which one??)...

Squealing gets worse when you hit the gas,....until of course everything heats up and you've been driving about a mile or so, give or take?

((((I also hit them with anti-noise spray for belts, not sure if that's what made the difference and silenced it, or what?)))

All belts were replaced about three weeks ago. PS fluid it not low (well it was earlier today, but not bad, so I added the needed amount)
The PS reservoir shell did seem to be a little wet, at the bottom and at the tops of the hoses leading away from it.

    So,...
    Diagnosis fellas?

What do you think?....PS pump? Rack?... small evil Gremlins in the engine bay??

If its most likely the PS, would I be good to get a rebuild kit?...a used PS box,..or a rebuilt one? (Don't have the cash for the latter though!!)

Squealing new belts???....What do you think??

    Thanks in advance?

pull on the belts to see how tight they are. AC, power steering and alternator are the only ones you can access. Power steering goes from the center to the driverside, it is below the alternator belt. I suppose any of them could be loose.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

Make sure the power steering fluid is topped off. Low fluid can cause a weird sound when turning the wheel

Belts are a-ok,... steering fluid was topped off before I actually posted the question. Yeah,.. I'm thinking its the power steering pump,.. sounds like crap and when you're sitting and its idling, if you get out of the car, pop the hood and put your hand on the steering fluid reservoir and turn the wheel when you hear the growl you can FEEL the reservoir vibrating like crazy!!!

add more PS fluid? I don't use the marks on the cap dipstick. I fill it to about a 1/4" below the inside lip of the reservoir. Lower than that and it starts to groan.

Otherwise, start looking for a new PS pump. not ix specific.

            Good luck

Yes, I actually went just above the "full" mark (top mark),...still groaning. I'm just going to get another pump already!

Still getting squealing,... wonder if its the alternator,...though seems to happen more if not almost solely when its cold out and gets worse when I give it more gas
              ???

I'm thinking that your pump is bad and increasing rotational resistance causing your belt to slip.
