well since you are probably the first to ask that question you might have to be the guinea pig so to speak . most times on here the IX'ers want to know if they can fix a standard "i" trans into an IX (due to a bad trans and not being able to find an IX specific replacement) to which we tell them yes but you have to change tailshaft housing.

now everything inside the IX 260 is the same just the tailshaft housing is different to mount the T-case to it. so the output flange should be in the same place but might be a different size flange or not include the centering pin needed for the two piece driveshaft, but that would be an easy swap from your "i" trans . the other big issue is that shifter assembly is different so you would have to use IX shifter assembly complete to fit the IX tailshaft housing.

basically a lot more work than is need as there are plenty "i" trannies out there and you could sell the IX to someone that really needs it

I forgot to reply to this, but it's actually the same except it has the threaded parts for mounting a t-case to it. they both have a place to mount standard E30 trans mounts even though the ix doesn't use them.

you do not need to use an ix shifter. the ix shifter is only different because it has to clear the transfercase. you could use it, but the throw is really long.

it's a 96mm flange and it does have a centering pin.
