E30 ix 1500 hp - PRO MOD - ideas for stronger drivetrain

i know i have been away, busy working on other projects, we decided to scrap the e30ix as a track car, went with a more suited solution...

however , it was then decided since there was already certain investments into it, that we would use the e30ix as a pro mod 88mm class 1/4 drag monster ! (e30 wheelies yay !)

now as we all know the drive train is complete rubbish, so after many hours of research, i have come here to discuss and throw around ideas, hopefully we can come to some sort of base as something that many or may not work

heres where we are at now !

we are using a BorgWarner S500-86 sx turbo (hoping for around 1500hp @ full boost) we will be basing the turbo around the Toyota Supra sequential TwinTurbo configuration so as to spool it.



E46 M3 motor forged internals with under bore and darton sleeves (unless someone has a better idea to reinforce the cylinders) and high lift cams +1mm oversized valves

now to the hard part

basically the idea is to use some sort of a forged custom and or reinforced dogboxed 6 speed transmission. That will have to be able to handle the boost of atleast 30psi (have not decided on it but a getrag 260 would be nice if plausible i have seen dogboxed 260 getrags for insane price to high to justify it )

then coupled with a SCS Transfer Case (these can handle upwards of 2000 hp)



simplifying it would be to be to drive it into a Ford 9" end (pro mod strength)

from the transfer case , im hoping to find a 166 differential or smaller performance built differential that can sustain the power or possibly another 9" pro mod type ford differential flipped and coupled as the front (hopefully clearing the oil pan)

the biggest issue being that the rear and front differentials have to line up so the Tcase doesnt have strain !

any suggestions, help or recommendations on parts to look into would be great !

what are your impressions ? is it feasible or not totally not worth it to keep the AWD.

a discussion on this entire procedure would be lovely...

the idea / concept is simple, basically couple a dogboxed reinforced tranmission *like a getrag 260 if possible to save on custom bell housing, with a SCS transfercase(they are used in monster trucks) and a PROMOD rear end with a monster truck type front diff all held up with a 4 link suspension and custom subframe

if it has to be done a dry sump pan to clear the front differential

do you know any websites that might have for sale these heavy duty front/rear 4x4 differentials , more geared towards either off road or 1/4 pro mod style drag racing

that way we can model together the best brand names and types available, before locating the sizes we need to see if its possible to keep the oil pan or maybe lower the drive train inorder to clear :)

any sites or manufactures or supplies of said equipment would be great

i believe we can do this ! doing a 1500hp E30 is easy, but to do a E30ix is brilliant and most likely never been done before up to 1500hp and not having to replace axels/shafts each run !

theres always a will where theres a way, i figure i could get some 'strange engineering' custom axels, basically id get drag racing quality stuff

but then the issue of the front differential would still remain, probably have to drag it and see which part fails, then depending on the failure get them custom made and sent over, yes it would take time , and slowly over the weekends of drag racing, im sure one by one the peices of failure would be weeded out ;)

p.s: how is your s54'ed euro drivetrain'ed ix coming along for $3000? are you done with it yet? did you cut your finger and give up already? i bet that project went nowhere just like this one will.

if you even bother to youtube e30 wheelies you will see its more then possible. Obviously you never looked into the company i have posted, no point in posting more of them (pdf catalogs which have more then enough information) for example, how to solve the CV issues...
