getrag 260 and lower diff ratio, what is possible top speed ?

as the title states, if the e30 ix would keep the getrag 260 transmission, and lets say the gear ratio was somehow changed on both differentials from 4.10 to say 2.x

what would be the possible top speed barrier reached.

anyway to make it hit 230mph ?

There are a lot of factors to put into the equation. For example, tire size. There is a mathematical formula you can use to figure this out. Do a little searching on google and quit being lazy. We are not going to just spoon feed it to you.

I've had my Spec E30 on the oval at Charlotte Motor Speedway and the engine ran out of oomph at 130mph. ~300rpm shy of the redline. It would take more power than an M20 can produce to overcome the drag, regardless of the drive ratio.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

            8500rpm / 60 seconds is 141,667 rounds per seconds.
getrag 260/5 has 5 gear ratio 0.83? and differential that we would use is normal 3.73:1.
tire size 205/55-15 so that makes
            Diameter:
            wheel 15 inch x 25.4mm = 381mm
tire profile 55% of width, makes 205*0.55= 112.75mm each side

            so 381mm + 112.75mm + 112.75mm =606,5mm diameter

circumference is then 3.14*0.6065 meters=1,90441 meters

Engine speed / (gear ratio * final drive ratio )* tyre circumference =
            meters per second

            141.667 /(0.83 * 3,73)* 1.90441 = 87,145 meters per second

            *3,6= 313,722 kph @ 8500rpm, when /1,6= 196.076 mph

            ;)

so if you want to reach 230mph @ 8500rpm final drive ratio would be
              3.73/(230mph/196mph)= 3,18:1
