    Manual Transmission Quick Question

I have a 1990 325ix engine / manual transmission sitting in my garage that I bought for the transfer case and extra parts. My son's car is a 1990 IX manual.

I drive a 1991 325i with an automatic transmission as a daily driver..

I did not search through threads - I figured someone may now off hand:

Is the transmission that came out of the IX - the one sitting in my garage.. (minus the transfer case of course) compatible with a 325i? -

i.e. Can I replace my auto with the manual in my 1991 325i?

yes, it will bolt up. You need a driveshaft with a large flex disk (96mm). it has ears for the regular trans mounts, although the ix doesn't use them.

          That is awesome news.

I replaced the guibo this summer on the Automatic (along with CSB) and I am pretty sure it was a thick 96mm flex disc..

          I got it here:

          http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...=17@Drivetrain Parts&gid=10701@Flex Disc

Although it does not say size..

(So I am assuming the disc are not different?)

You can use the flex disk, but the automatic driveshaft is too short.
