What's the going rate for an ix

I'm going to soon be needing a second car if I'm wanting to go much further on mine and want to know what the average going rate for an ix. I am not looking for one in pristine condition I don't mind it it has dents or even a destroyed engine. As long as the 4 wheel drive parts work I'm willing to work with it.

I am not buying right now just trying to find out a ballpark for one if these.

Finding one in CA is going to be hard honestly.. I've seen some locally here on clist for $1500; finding one that you don't have to drop another $1500+ into would be very hard from what I've been told due to parts.

I would say $1500 is on the low side. Condition wouldn't be that great. They are usually pretty hard to find though.

a $1500 ix is almost a parts car. it's likely to need $1500 invested just to be mechanically sound, and that probably wouldn't be enough. way more to be "nice".

the "going rate" varies between $500 and $12,000+. That is, there really isn't a going rate - it's all based on condition. IMO, it's worth spending more on a nice one that doesn't need a ton of work vs a beater that you'll have to rebuild.

if the engine is bad you won't be able to tell if the AWD works. most likely, if you're looking for a fixer-upper it's going to be rusty.

You could spend between $2000-$4000 and get a running car that needed some maintenance, that you could do while it was a dd. But idk about Cali so much.

damn why is this car so rare in cali. I dont mind finding one thats needs work theres a ton of wrecking yards around here i can pull parts from to get it at least running and drivable. But would you all say that $2500 would be a good amount to have on stand by for one of these based on what ive seen so far?

I sold mine running for $2500 about a year ago. It was an auto 4door. But yeah, if you are gonna look for a month or two before you buy, I bet you could get a runner for 2500.

                hmm...

then I shouldn't sell my 1989 325iX I just bought back a month ago since it has the following done in the last 1,000 miles:

                Re-built head and new gasket
                New Radiator
                New cooling and fuel lines
New T-Belt and Water pump and related hoses
new brakes and rotors on all 4 corners
4 new CV boots with solid front axles
Transfer case, front and rear diff fluids replaced
                Auto trans serviced
                Oil change
                Oil filter housing leak fixed
                4 Michelin snows

New transfer case in 2006 with 25,000 miles on it
166,000 with little rust under tow hook. Four door hat goes like stink. decent paint and straight body with minimal interior wear. I better keep her since it seems a lot of crap and beaters are out there!
