    325i and 325ix SWAP

Will a 5 speed transmission from a 325i work for a 325ix? Looking to do a manual swap but transmissions from 325ix are hard to find.

    Thank you

in a word no , the tailshaft housing is different to mount the T-case ,otherwise the transmissions are exactly the same . so you would need to put an IX tailshaft housing on it which requires almost complete dis-assembly so might as well just find an IX ....

Thank you for the reply. Yeah, I'll stick with a IX trans lol. It seems to hard to find though.

Just for the trans or the complete set up? You need the transmission, transfer case, transfer case mount, shifter assembly, clutch and flywheel, complete pedal box with clutch master and lines, clutch slave and lines, this is everything you need for the swap :-)

clutch and flywheel are the same for the ix, so isnt the pedal box, clutch master, slave, and lines. only thing that differs is the transmission rear half itself, with the mounts of course.

the shifter is different, but yeah, everything else is the same.

That's a good price for the trans. The AWD units will cost a little more than the RWD units.
