    What else to hit up..replacing rack and pinion

    I'm replacing my rack and pinion, what else to hit up while down there? Thanks in advance

    steering u-joint coupler thing. inspect it for binding/looseness. they seem to wear faster on the ix. unfortunately it's not a cheap part.

    also, replace the resivior. the filter for the PS system is built into it - and they're not expensive. it'd be like building a new motor and using an old dirty oil filter. :p

    consider new rubber lines and hose clamps as well.

      Front diff seals if they're weeping at all.

      Replace any cracked or torn axle boots.

      Check your front drive shaft splines that go into the VC for wear. Then maybe re-lube with some fresh Molycote grease.

      Prior to removal of the rack, you might want to power wash under there (preferably with hot water). This way no crap falls all over your face and you can see potential rust spots.

      POR-15 all things rusty...

        Yea..I got new hoses/clamps and reservoir
        ready..I will inspect the coupler as well..thanks
