    Transfer case + Transmission guibo

I feel a bit silly asking this because no one seems to have this problem but, I'm currently removing my transfer case for a rebuild/replacement. I have everything off including the difficult to reach 2 bolts between the case and the transmission. The only thing I can't get to is the 3 bolts on the guibo in the cage connecting the transmission to the transfer case. Is there something I'm missing? I can't seem to fit a normal wrench into the caged area to remove the nuts.

I don't have a photo, but I'm trying to remove the bolts attaching 1 to the transmission output shaft.

On a related note, the guibo in there has small, hairline cracks, if I bend it, but nothing visible when it's just sitting there. Should I replace it while I have the tcase off?

If it helps, here's a photo of what I'm trying to remove. I can't fit a wrench into the cage surrounding that nut holding the guibo to the transmission.

Never messed with stock E30 ix parts really but on E34 ix you dont have to loosen the guibo bolts, you can just pull the TC of the trans and the input shaft slides out. (dont know if there is room but if it is you have more space :)

you have to remove the bolts on the E30

you can definitely get a wrench in there... be creative. :)

Haha, alright fine, I'll work on being creative. As long as there isn't some trick I'm missing. Thanks.

use the box end. those ratcheting ones are perfect for this once you've broken them free..

Got it, thanks! Now I just have to wait to get my parts in and put my tcase back together. Everything looks clean inside, I was hoping there was an obviously bad bearing or something because I hear a little sound when I'm driving but it might be the rear diff...Anyway to test bearings while they're out? They spin nicely and don't seem to have significant play.
