Need opinions - Sell my iX to fix up my 944s?

So I got this 944s for $800. Drove it home and even though it needs a major tuneup and some clutch work, it was a fun car. It was going to be something to flip but I REALLY kinda like it.

I've had my iX for 5 years or so, now, and while I love it, it's not what I would call a "fast" car. I've done all the major work to it, and it's got a miller MAF and 19# injectors to help performance a bit.

At this point I'm in a pickle. I could keep both cars and be super broke. I could flip the 944s and come out $1500-$2k ahead. Or I could sell the iX, put $1k into the Porsche and stash the remaining $3k or so.

I have a DD E46, and for snow I have both a 4runner and a Forester XT. This would purely be a "fun" car.

    What do you guys think?

Looks don't matter, BTW, I think both cars are sexy.

    Aren't Porsche parts super expensive?

Some stuff is, but surprisingly it's not all that bad.

Clutch kit = $800 (with all the extra bearings and whatnot).
      Timing chain tensioner = $500
intake manifold gasket = $10 from Porsche
Valve cover gasket = $8 from Porsche
Cap and rotor = $60 from Oreilly
      injectors are like $30 each

So it's a crapshoot. Also the iX parts can get a little pricey, too. The only gotcha is the Porsche has a lot more parts (timing belt AND timing chain, for example)

It has both? Meh, sell the E46 to fund the 944s...problem solved. I've yet to hear a rational reason for someone to sell a running IX.

Well here's my 2 cents since I've had both. I've had a 2 944s but never a S but they are defiantly great fun cars, and of curse so are the ixs. I personally choose the ix because I feel they have more potential. The 944 we're build to there nere max and the only way to get consider amount of power is pretty much a ls1 swap and a 951 tranny and so on. With the ix are pretty much limited to the m20 but you can still get 400+ hp if your looking for power. If your looking to stay on the stock side I believe the 944 Is more fun for being sporty though. But I will say there's a reason I picked my 220k+ mile e30 over that 944 that had under 50k on it. Now if it was a 951 well this would be a different story but my vote is keep the ix

You had a 944. the S has a firmer suspension, stiffer sway bars, and 30 more HP. Would that have changed your mind on keeping the iX over the Porsche?

Nah, i spend a good bit of money and upgraded all my suspension and did what little I could for power but I always felt like the car was at its limit. Maybe it's just me but I just like the feeling knowing the car has more potential. But I will say I was always happy with the handling and I knew the car could out handle mine and most others diving skill. I just didn't like the idea of replacing a Porsche motor with a GM. With the e30 there's just so many options and most of its all been done at least once even with the ix. Also I really enjoyed the e30 community a lot more. I'm a member of 944online and its a great place with very smart and nice people but it's kinda just boring, I enjoy all the crazy kaois on r3v haha
