I think i broke my car

Put the car in gear with the engine off, rolls down hill while making a whirring noise from the rear end. Makes same noise when accelerating in forward or reverse, I don't believe it is the clutch. Sounds like the output flange on the differential is stripped. Anyone else have any ideas?

Does it accelerate forward or reverse under it's own power, or just keep rolling?

Also, it's a fulltime AWD car, a stripped rear diff should not allow the car to just roll around like it's not connected to anything unless the AWD is a little cooked.

it rolls slowly, and it doesn't do it under deceleration (I guess the engine doesn't have enough braking force)
