    Assistance to Identify a connection?

Located an unplugged connector between the coolant tank and the left fender. coming off a large bundle of wires. Looked around have not located where it goes or what it is for. Checked with a volt meter there is power on one pin when the car is running. Look like is has not been plugged for some time in as the inside socket pin area is very dirty.

    Car is a 1991 325iX

    Any Idea?

    Thank You

you'll find many dis-connected connectors thruout the car harness , many are for options in different markets . so if you find its dirty inside and looks like its never been connected that option isnt on your car

that being said i think that connector was for the auxillary oil tank (stored and extra 1-2qts and added automatically when oil level sensor indicated oil level was down) a Euro option

spdracrm3, would you have any information on this option?

I ask, as looked in realoem under the euro model and did not locate.

            This is an interesting option.

This would be an interesting option / item to locate and install.

Doesn't look like it would fit an IX strut tower right, and obviously wants to occupy the same space as the coolant bottle.

BMW was very reluctant to change their wiring harnesses.
