    E34 IX Front Driveshaft

Cleaned and greased the splines on my front driveshaft the other day and took some pictures. Thought you guys might like to see.

    Dust Seal

The E30 IX doesn't have the metal cup and dust seal like this, does it? Seems like a much better design and would keep grease from "washing" out.

The E30 has a dust shield, it's plastic but it works fine. The rubber o-ring is built into the transfercase.

The E30's plastic dust shield engages o-rings on the T-case sprocket snout and the driveshaft. It's well sealed.

You probably know this but you can remove the steel cup to get better access when cleaning etc :)

I didn't but mine was still nice and shiny zinc oxide plated on the inside. A small brush and some super clean got it back to like new condition.
