    drivetrain noise

So i just installed a new transmission about 700 miles ago(maybe not related) and I am suddenly hearing a horrible clicking noise somewhere along the drive line(it sounds like it is coming from the transmission or forward ) and I can't figure it out
so far i can only noticeably hear the noise while the car is in gear and accelerating and seems to go away after 4th gear but I was barely using the throttle on the drive home after the noise showed up
I actually had to drive the car for 1 hour on the highway after the noise started to occur and it completely went away after I got on the highway. Even to the point that once I got into town and down to speed the noise went away completly for the remaining 5 miles of city driving left
next day go out the car and the noise is back immediately, so I jacked the car up and checked everything around the front guibo assuming the bolts were hitting the transmission cover, but there were no issues

    Any ideas?

Here is a video of it so you can hear the noise

    video is private...

is it a vibration noise or clunking or grinding? can you describe it more?

I'm betting stripped driveshaft splines. When is the last time they were inspected and lubricated?

Splines where last lubed up 700 miles ago with the transmission swap
and it is a definite clunking sound, sounds like guibo bolts hitting the oil pan

Driveshaft splines?any good way to check? (Just visual inspection I guess)

do you notice it more over bumps or anything like that? could be it only happens in a certain orientation of the suspension? ie accelerating or braking or when the suspension is compressed or rebounding

Might be worth it to check the rear driveshaft too

The orientation of the suspension does not seem to affect it and it is not any louder when going straight or turning but it does become slightly more exaggerated over bumps (almost like it's something loose that is rubing against the guibo bolts because it goes in and out)

Ill look at the rear Driveshaft tomorrow and take the front driveshaft out to check the splines.

What do stripped splines sound like? This has a definite tempo to it

              Last question
so hoping that the tc splines are still good can I just take the drive shaft to a driveline specialist and have them rebuild the splines
I noticed a few local places that offer this service, just didn't know if it was for something else

have you pulled the front shaft yet? that's the only way to know. just pull out the guibo and centering pin, then you can see the end of the shaft.

Phew so it turned out to be a broken bolt in the rear guibo...replaced it and everything is all good

                  So new question

Should I undo my lengthened driveshaft (x5 centering pin thicker guibo) and save that for the day that I finally do strip my splines
it just seems that people used to use to the shim to get more spline contact after the splines where stripped...basically giving them a little more life out of the driveshaft and t/c...also giving them time to find a repair option

                  Or

Should I just stop over thinking it and just keep the thicker guibo and just not be stupid and keep the splines lubed
