    I went rally crossing

I went rally crossing for the first time on Saturday. My Turbo iX did good all in all. Aside from the engine and Bilstein Heavy Duty Struts in the rear, the car is stock. I think my front struts may be blown as they are all rusty but it was a lot of fun!

My buddy's 325e rally car that I helped him pick up for $500, the Road Warrior in front of me on the way there.

Somehow the gauges decided to work all day! The car didn't overheat either.

    Clean before the event.

I fell into the mod AWD class which meant there were lots of subarus even though I had never done an autocross before.

I mentioned I got the e28 spoiler mounted up.

And the dust at the end of the day.

I did have a couple of problems through the course of the day. On the way to the course, I boosted and popped one of the silicon couplers off the AFM connection. It was upstream of the AFM so it still ran fine on the highway, just no boost. Then my wastegate signal line blew off but it was so hot to try to grab it, I just left it off so my turbo spool suffered. Also at some point in the day, the plug on my throttle body blew off. I didn't notice until I was driving home and it was at 12 AFR at cruise on the highway. I plugged that this morning.

Here is a quick video I made today. Enjoy!

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

This thing is awesome, especially when it flies by and you hear the spool/BOV.

Then, you notice it has monster truck status and i'm sure peopel are thinking WTF?? -- it is sitting noticeably higher than the US cars ;D

A faster rack would be nice but what can you do? Oh well. I ended up running ok. You can see in the video where I ran out wide into the soft dirt and where I messed up coming onto the transition to tarmac. I beat a few guys, but they scored the timing based on total runs for the day and my first run I got a 22 second penalty for not knowing the course well enough which would have bumped me 2 places in the standings.

My second run was a 104 which was really competitive but I couldn't put it together for the rest of the runs. It was a good test for the car and getting it dialed in. My raw times beat most stock awd cars but I was in mod awd which meant those guys were stripped, or heavily modified for this. Most of them trailered their cars to the track anyway hah
