Rear ebrake shoe pins ripped thru the backing plate

The pin on one shoe ripped thru the backing plate, and got enlodged in the rotor, causing premature wear on one of my brake pads.

Went to replace my brakes the other day and noticed this.

Below is my ghetto fix for now. I took a modified washer and put it on the back side of the backing plate. I was going to replace the backing plate, but the only way to remove the plate was to remove the axle which i really didn't wanna do right now.

    Anyone else experience this?

That'll work until you can find a rust free backing plate. Hmm

Lol. Thanks for the front ones u sent. They look minty. The rear ones are still readily available. Just really don't want to remove everything just to change this backing plate right now lol

I used a long 1/4 bolt with lock tight, been working good for years

I had the same thing. Hold down pin loose in the rotor for the same reason. Sounded like a wheel bearing was gone. Simple fix with bolt and nut.
