Which 325ix came with different console?

I've got the taller one in mine. Is that a late-late model thing or auto or? When I 5 speed swap my car can I ditch it in favor of a regular height console?

btw I never knew there was a difference in consoles between auto & manual. This might solve my question as to why my entire console moves when I shift into 1st gear (car used to be auto)

taller is from e30 with automatic transmision. See that little screw? its for plastic cover around auto shifter.

+1 I think the taller one if for the automatic transmission IX's.

I checked realoem.com and both manual and automatics share the same part number, pn 51161941830. I have an 11/1990 build date automatic car and I checked manual coupes and sedans over the years of production, all the same part number.

ive never seen the tall one before. i assume your rear console section is also different to match?

having had tons of e30's over the years, i can say that the console will interchange between auto and manual cars with no incident.

Another +1 for the tall console only in an automatic IX. It's in mine.

The rear console is the same. There's just another 3/4" of height difference in the transition between the front and rear console sections.
