    T-Case mount replacement?

Is it possible to remove the transfer case rubber mount with the T-Case still in the car? I'm curious if anyone has done this. Mine looks OK (has some cracks) but I want to replace it now while taking care of other various things. Part # 23711130502

Yes, I've done it, it is doable and it is a complete cow.

Cut the rubber, collapse the metal sleeve and knock it out towards the rear of the car (reasonably awkward). You can't get a sawzall into this mounting to cut the metal shell but you can get a HF mini sawzall in there, the HF blades are shit so use a good jigsaw blade being careful not to damage the ally TC mounting.

The bolt hole in the mount is offset which adds a greater level of awkwardness.

You'll need a very shallow receiver and cap big enough to fit the rear of the TC mounting hole (including the offset) while not slipping off the casting, and a press cap big enough to fit the outer shell of the new mounting (again including the offset).

Put the new mounting in the freezer, everything helps with this job.

About 3 hours if I remember correctly - though I'm trying not to remember that job at all.

    Good luck.

I'll have to put it on the backburner since I have more important things to do.. I'll have to pull the t-case some time this year for a rebuild so I'm just going to wait. Glad to hear it's doable as its a b*tch to drop the t-case.

I just bring the t-case to a shop and have them press it out and press the new one in. Doesn't usually cost very much. Getting the new bushing in there while under the car sounds like a nightmare.

It's like eating a double Anchovy pizza with extra Anchovy's just so you can say you've done it....
