Spring pad question

Hey R3V,

I'm replacing the front strut mounts in my iX after doing struts and springs last year and when I took the assembly apart I noticed that the two upper spring pads are different (idk how I missed this when I dissasembled them last year). The point is I see two different spring pads (maybe ones for a rwd), when I checked realoem to order one the part #31331128522

So I ordered one from FCP euro and it showed up being the same as the one that doesn't fit.

The pad on top is incorrect, it moves around and this lead me to think it could of been the reason one of my mounts was binding.

Any input is appreciated!

Still can't find a 9mm upper pad, but I can find the 3mm lower pad. Should I buy two lower pads to run instead of the 9mm upper pads?

The RWD upper hat is shaped differently from the ix. So maybe they are sending you a RWD pad, which will not fit.

Well I'm going to order a "lower 3mm spring hat". If it doesn't fit then idk. Would running no spring hat make any sense?

The spring pad isn't the same thing as the spring hat. the spring hat is the metal part that holds the top of the spring to the strut bearing. the pad goes between the hat and the spring.

the ix spring hat is different than the RWD car. So the spring pads are also different. The pad shown in your picture looks like it's from a RWD E30. I wouldn't be surprised if they just mixed them up, not realizing they are different.
