    ix question

Hi: What is the going price for an ix manual transfer case and 88ix engine? I know awhile back when I had an ix the transfer cases were really expensive...about 900 used....
    Any help would be great,

i think a good used manual tc is probably worth 5-600.00 on a good day.

im glad you asked this question because i was actually wondering myself. I have a 5 speed ix that iv been trying to sale but it just seems that everyone wants to low ball me. i might actually just part out the car and make more if it doesnt sale in the near future.

but to answer your question i when i was looking for a manual tcase in working condition the cheapest one i found was 850 but he didnt have any proof of it actually working. i ended up buying a pos parts car with a working drivetrain for 1500. i was lucky because they are getting harder and harder to find.

Well, California doesn't really have a established market for the iX; hinting you might be asking a bit much. In Colorado that price is pretty resonable. Just my two cents.. I've seen automatic T-Cases essentially be thrown away and manual ones that a in known working condition sell for around $400-900 all day, cheaper to find a rusty iX and part it. Or you can always resort to the euro market. Plenty of iX parts to drool over on http://m.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_nkw=325ix&isNewKw=1&is

            Thanks for the input

Thanks for the input guys. That would mean the engine and transfer case would be worth about 1500, or maybe a bit more? What parts of the engine are really worth anything, the oil pan, head and what else??:)
Prices in Germany seem to be pretty high:)

chris made a good point. in california, specifically where i am at in los angeles, the ix is extremely rare to see. Because of that i can get away with selling my ix parts for bit more than what you would normally find them. i constantly look at craigslist ads in colorado and there is always a few ixs for sale at a very reasonable price.

From what i know the complete block of the m20 ix, is ix specific, the head is your normal i head.

                :)

Thanks for all the good information. Looking at an 88ix and it comes with a parts motor, and transfer case. Might keep the case, but all the motor parts I probably will sell to fund the project.
will make a fs ad when it all happens with obo, so people can offer what they think the parts are worth:)

you can ask anything you wish. i assume for 1500, you would also be including the transmission too? i think that would be a fair value. it wouldn't be that easy to actually get that price unless you find someone who really wants it. r3ver's are a cheap lot.:-? also, people looking for the trans/xfer case usually won't be looking for an engine since they are usually replacing an auto. it would be easier to sell the engine separately.

I would say the engine, transmission, and TC is worth about $500 each.
