Z3 short shifter

Is there a proper direction a z3 short shifter must be installed? I installed one on my ix and it seems to be leaning forward too much to me. 3 and 5 gear are pretty far from what I remember it being stock. and 2 and 4 do not move as much direction wise. When in neutral its not really dead center. Any help? Thanks

There is a proper direction. Refer to the picture. It tilts back.

AWD > RWD

Does the selector rod really have to be bent? Once I switch it around?

I'm pretty sure a z3 is not an ix.
