Question about engine rebuild.

    Before.... Reason for the cold engine when testing. I will fallow up with new compression results.Trying to think positive since the car was sitting for so long with no lubrication. Let say it is a gasket. What are the chances for the head to warp or crack? I don't know the history.(At this point i can be wrong and nothing is wrong with the engine. Plus once compression is done and if i see better PSI in the cylinder's i will run it and record it to let you guys hear it). All i know is this car was used for xrally at some point but NO modifications to the car engine were made. Was told it just stopped running. Since the guy was in to JDM's he just wanted to get rid of it. The body being in its condition and the price i payed i couldn't pass this up. Plus guy was going to crush a rust free body.

      Oh...
      Run it for as much as a minute, THEN do the compression check.
      After all, compression when running is what matters...
      And running engines have oil everywhere AND are warm

        Did the compression Test again.
        I think things are looking good.
        Cylinder 1 160-165.
        Cylinder 2 160-165.
        Cylinder 3 160-165.
        Cylinder 4 160-165.
        Cylinder 5 160-165.
        Cylinder 6 160-165.
        Thank you for the help guys. I feel better about it that this engine is all good.
        Seen 2.5/2.7 stamp on the head. I thought that 325i means 2.5l.

          Nothing wrong with that engine... except maybe bearings and valve lash :p

            Just cause the compression is good doesn't mean you are out of the woods, but
            its not a bad start.

            Don't go fixing things that aren't broken:D Get it on the road and start motoring. Issues will start to present them selves if they are present:)
