Maybe I need to stop hitting it with my purse, but I dropped the subframe and when reattaching I did not line up the steering joints. I've loosened the bolts on the joints and it won't move...how do I get it to un-clamp?

Try completely removing the bolts, not just loosening them. -
Yes, you have to do this but you may also need to spread the clamp a little by driving a screwdriver or small chisel into the slot.Try completely removing the bolts, not just loosening them.Comment

yep, the joint won't come out unless you remove the bolts entirely. it's a safety design.Comment

Just pull out the bolts all the way. Then you will be able to slide the U-joint off the shaft.Comment

So the way I did it was remove the splined joint as noted above. and I knocked out the 2 studs from the joint. i put the joint back in, slid the guibo in place and then pushed the studs back in and bolted it down.
