325ix Front half shaft question

Hey guys, looking for some insight, i removed the passenger front half shaft, to reboot it, and at the very end, the shaft that goes about a foot or so into the differential, is there supposed to be a circlip on that end? Or is there a internal cir clip?

One of my friends mentioned it should come out, but he is not familiar with BMW's, i dont want to put this all back together and have the front differential explode!! i think i am okay, but just want to make sure.

the clip is inside the diff - it doesn't come out, unless it is broken. :)

you should feel it 'pop' into place when you push the axle back into the diff.
