    I run 440/550 and it’s a perfect balance imo

    LOL... It does actually.

For ANY lowered car, doing the extra effort to preserve suspension travel vs. reducing travel makes ALL of the difference between the stereotypical tooth chipping ride and something that's stiff but livable.

My dad bought a lowered E24. It looked great, but rode like shit over big bumps because the PO or whoever lowered it hadn't done anything to preserve suspension travel. A trucker ran a stop sign and took that car off his hands. He bought another E24 that he's running with M6 springs and Koni shocks set full soft, but kept it at stock ride height because the prior one was so bad.

H&R Sports + Bilsteins on an ix here in MI. It's bad. Still daily drive it though. I also have solid M3 CAB's which I feel had the biggest difference in ride quality over bumps. It's almost a relief when winter rolls around and I put my soft snow tires on that seem to absorb a lot of the bumps.

BTW our roads are TOTAL SHITE here.

It doesn't apply because even stock, the RWD cars have more travel than us. Lowering 1.25" takes away like half the stock travel on an ix.

What? H&R Sports work very poorly on both RWD and iX cars. BTDT.

Yes, I know I'm in the IX section lol. I was surprised to read nando's comment, and responded accordingly. I realize IXs have different front suspension, but general suspension principles will apply regardless.

Yeah, it's pretty good on smooth roads, even with the H&R Race springs I had before, but it seems like any scenario where the wheel has to move up and down very quickly, such as potholes or railroad crossings, it just crashes over them. I'm not sure if my expectations are too high, or if my suspension set up needs improvement.

You posted this in the iX section, FYI.

Your biggest issue is inadequate suspension travel. You may try camber plates with a shorter stack height, or bilsteins with the internal bump stop trimmed 1-2 inches, or raise the car. Also, if you are running stock E30 bump stops, switch to E36 M3 when you swap in the camber plates.

Washington is just Seattle, and the highway to Vancouver. Nothing else exists. ;)

Before that yes, the ride quality was much poorer. I've had 5 different suspension setups on my ix, including H&R sports, Bilsteins with stock springs, and 3 coilover setups. The worst ride by far was the custom Bilsteins with my shortened housings, it was like having 2x4's for suspension. That was followed by the Koni/H&R setup which was also painful in many cases.

ehh, if you saw our streets here.. I wouldn't call them glass smooth. Some of them are so bad they've almost turned back into gravel. Also there is so much construction, everything is all cut up, with temporary patches on top of temporary patches.

The county roads are pretty nice for being tar/gravel, but in the cities it's generally horrible.

Also our freeway hasn't been repaved here since it was built in 1965. lol
Last time I was in Seattle, the roads looked great compared to DC. I’ll grant that that was before the big Seattle building boom really kicked in, though.

I can't imagine your 330i would have vastly stiffer suspension than my A4. Makes me wonder if something's wrong with my shocks.
