well, you'll always hear moans and groans from the $300 beater/parts car E30 crowd - but i think it's a fair price for what looks to be a mint, low miles, all original 325ix.

yea, i wasnt going to declare the price paid because there are some younger folks over on e46fan that think anything more than $3k for an E30 (except the M3) is tooooooooo much

what really stands out for me is the engine bay - it could have been steam cleaned, but the red paint would still be faded and the aluminum would still be grimey. it all looks mint and clean. I have a theory about cars and clean engine bays. If it looks like shit, it probably is..

          so...it looks like a keeper?

It is clean all over, the alum stuff underneath is faded and has the alum flake buildup, the car feels soft (but I am used to two E46s with coilovers and an Acura TL)

the CV boots look decent, no cracks or holes

some of the suspension parts are rusty

there is some rust developing under the side skirts at the front jack points - one of my goals to work on right away is removing the iX trim to see exactly what is going on - and fix before it gets bad/worse

the battery box is near perfect

there is some wetness on the auto trans lower case (hopefully not a rear main seal or worse)

The story on the car is used in winter in Michigan I think and only used occassionally, kept clean but it is evident they didnt clean underneath as thoroughly as the exterior and interior

Yeah, the stock suspension is pretty soft. but, it actually works pretty well. I miss my car when it was all stock.. sometimes.

clean out the spring perches on the front strut tubes (there's a drain hole that gets blocked with dirt, and water collects in there, causing rust). it doesn't appear to have any major rust problems, whatever it could posibly have would definitely be worth fixing! :)

Definitely not a keeper! You should sell it to me for half of what you paid for it. Sometimes you just gotta cut your losses and walk away.... ;-)

I'd have happily paid what you did to get a car like that, lol.

The full lightbar will be installed shortly now that all the EMS, police and fire radios are installed along with the electronic airhorn. :) And what good is a rally car if you don't use it? :D

                          thanks

hoping to order the clear Hella euro headlights from Abrams, I need a new drivers side fog light, going to paint/tint the rear orange light red, delete the front and rear side markers, install the euro/M3 fender sidemarker and change the front orange side markers (havent decided whether clear or tinted...)

Anyone need a set of the US DOT DE headlight sets?

I am sure some of the purists are going to be unhappy but I had the windows tinted with 35% today.

The Bilstein struts came in today but still waiting for the H&R springs

While under the car I will decide which bushings/rubber pieces will need to be replaced after 23 yrs (Jan 1989 build date)

Why not buy the original Hella blacked out front if ur buying?
And for the Bilstein/H&R combo, back out ofit if u can. What you want is adjustable konis..

i had a choice of clear or smoked - i figured I would keep the oem look

Arent Koni's usually much stiffer even on "soft"?

I have Bilstein PSS9 on once car and PSS10 on the other car so I was familiar with Bilstein..if it is a known bad choice I will change - I didn't see many options for the iX

The car is home and parked with its new brothers:

I also took off the roof rack; damn that thing is loud (wind noise and rattles)

                                The other cars:

The touring is just being finished up from a complete widebody and fresh all over LeMans Blue (with a blue pearl) paint job. I have barely driven it other than getting it to the painter since the beginning of September. I have had it back for about three weeks reinstalling the interior, trim, exterior, bumpers, seals, lighting, doors, etc, etc, etc

This was the touring before the paint (and a slight widebody)
