    new seats in iX

I just won some redone seats out of a cabby on ebay. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about "modding" the drivers seat slide lever. the last seats i put in I bent it but it still kind of rubbed on the carpet a bit and looked a bit cocked. I've never been able to figure out how to change the levers from an iX to reg. e30 seats. Any other ideas besides just cranking on it?

I just left mine alone. are you really short or something? I have the seat as far forward as it will go and it's been fine - but I'm a bit tall.

well since you ask, yes, yes I am. but you say you put your seat all the way forward w/ no problems?! There is no way I could do that with my current seats. The bar bumps right into the x-fer cae bump. Dont be fooled Chris I will teach you a lesson in a low centere of gravity!:p

not all the way forward, but far enough for me. it can only go maybe an inch or so further.

my p/o replaced my seats with regular non ix comfort seats and the levers scraped against the transmission hump. it left a huge gash in the carpet but worked fine.

luckily i found the exact seats i wanted, black leather vertical stitched sport seats..that just so happened to be out of an ix so the levers fit perfectly :p

i guess if its a real problem for you, just yank the levers off and bend them to shape?

I ended up using a bar bender and it worked perfectly
EDIT: you cant just yank them off. I infact wanted to swap my iX seat bars on to the new seats and couldnt figure out how. No one else know how to. If you figure it out let me know.

Here is a pic of the new heated seats, I love them BTW. If you meant pics of the bent bar I could get that later if you need. That cover in the back is for my dog in case you were wondering. I just wish i could find an M-tech II steering wheel to fiish it up, but I dont feel like draining my back account now

thanks guys, they are cabby seats recovered with leatherette. They smelled funny at first but that is gone now, but they look pretty good IMO compared to leather(that is what i origonally wanted) but I think it might hold up better. Next is rear head rests and recover the rear. I was also wondering if it would be possible to heat the rear seats. If I could only keep my dog from shedding. Any ideas on that?:D

For the dog, bathe him in Elmer's Glue. That might help the shedding.

As for heating the rear seats, I don't think it'd be any different than heating the fronts. Just gotta make the heating elements fit in the rear seats which I don't imagine would be very difficult. If you do it, your dog would be nice and toasty. Hopefully the glue won't melt.

too bad, i wish i had seen this prior. modified M3 seats to fit in my ix very nicely
its the sliders. same as the comfort seats. one round pin up front, one 17 or 19mm bolt holding the seatbelt and crossbrace in place, and that plastic clip that holds the lever wire. its a simple swap. luckily they are all the same.. at least in my case.

So you swap the comfort/ix sliders to the sport seats? that's it? I've got comfort seats abound lol.

yeah. And to boot, you only need to change one slider. The adjuster with the bend for the driver's seat. No crazy bending or anything. I have done this a few times now.
