I can get a 325iX touring with automatic for $400 with high mileage. I have another motor and trans out of a 325i that I would like to put in it but I don't want the all wheel drive. The body and interior are good. Is this possible???

I'm in a good mood so I'll be nice. A) it's not worth the trouble, and B) that would be considered blasphemy by some. The ix block has some differences and you will have way more work on your hands than just getting a RWD car in the first place. If you swap in the manual trans it would be worth more, but if the AWD system is still good, leave that alone and sell/keep/part the ix.
And please make ONE post per question. Thank you.Originally posted by chileelkyamaze about the enthusiasm e30 generate

So does the iX have a different trans or could I put in a getrag 260 and swap the tranfer over to it?Originally posted by NicademusMy car beats off to that car.

Ok so I am still thinking about getting this car and leaving it an iX but it would have to be a manual and on Germany ebay they want 150 euro for the trans and 150 euro for the transfer which is almost $500. But then I guess I could sell the auto one on german ebay for about the same.
Wouldn't I have to change the diffs to if I were to do this cause of the ratio in the auto???Originally posted by NicademusMy car beats off to that car.

manual ix's came with 3.91s, not too big of a difference from the 4.10. all you really need is the transmission and transfercase, and of course components for the clutch. it will be worth more later if you leave it an ix rather than gutting it - and I'd think it would be easier in germany to find a regular touring if you wanted RWD.
you could also keep the auto transfercase around and use it for parts - the internals are the same as the 5 speed, except for the input from the tranny and 1 bearing.

Auto iXs came with 4.10 ratio diffs, so that would be seen as an upgrate to the stock (manula) 3.73. You will have noticeably higher rpm on the highway, though.
Sorry but I haven't figured out how to put 2 quotes in one response yetOriginally posted by NicademusMy car beats off to that car.

This body and interior is in really good shape, just the car has really high mileage on it and it is only $400. I am also leaving Germany in about 2 years so I won't be able to take it with me but it will have to go to someone else then. So its only a 2 year project.
If I was to buy a trans and xfer on german ebay I would put the auto up to try and get the money back.Originally posted by NicademusMy car beats off to that car.
