    Question Front Driveshaft Cover question

What are you guys doing to get that cover on the front driveshaft to lock in over that metal circlip? I have tried sliding it over, and it stops just ahead of that metal ring. Any help would be appreciated since i am almost done with my 5 speed swap (finally).

I'm not sure what you're asking(pics would help), are you trying to get the circlip out?. If so, I used a snap ring plier and a small screwdriver. Once i expanded the circlip as far as i could i pushed it into the driveshaft and with the other hand i jammed the screwdriver and pried it out. It's a PITA but that's the way I did it and it worked, someone else might have an easier soluation

BTW the cover goes on the driveshaft and then the circlip locks that cover in

I think you might thinking of one of the front axles. I am talking about the driveshaft that sits between the front differential and the transfer case. There is a black plastic cone shaped cover that covers the splines on the transfer case. The cover is supposed to slide over and clip on to the circlip that is on the outside of the drive bearing that houses the front driveshaft. This plastic cone shaped cover is what i am having trouble with. I fear that with any real driving it would slide forward if it's not locked on properly.

it should snap into place. as long as it locks (and it does lock firmly) it shouldn't ever come out. It's never moved on me in almost 7 years.
