Failed jack test :( Now what?

So after draining and filling the front/rear differentials, transfer case, auto trans inc filter, and power steering fluid, I did a jack test, and it failed miserably :( Wouldn't move at all.

Might have to do with the fact that the transfer case was EMPTY :( Why can't people maintain simple things like fluids?

So aside from replacing it...what can I do? Can I rebuild/refresh it? What happens if I keep it in there - can it get worse/strand me?

VC is toast. you need to replace it.

it would be dangerous/unpredictable to drive it that way on ice, since now it will always send torque to whatever wheel has the least amount of grip.

Just to add to the confusion, I had the xfer case drained again. Works like a charm now. Explain???

it might still have a little bit of life in it - they usually don't fail all at once. but it's probably still on it's way out.
