    Fuel leaks when filling tank

I was wondering if you guys could help me
    figure out this problem.
i was filling my tank the other day and when it got to full the pump didn’t click off automatically but instead fuel started pouring out from the rear passenger wheel area. I haven’t noticed any fuel leaks at all otherwise, only the last time I was filling it. Nothing has leaked since it’s been parked either. The leak looked like it was coming from behind the group of hoses going into the top left portion of the wheel well.
anyone know what could be going on or causing this?
also what’s the best way to get in there to take a closer look?

If the pump didn't automatically turn off, it sounds like the overflow made it past the gasket and down along the filler pipe. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Although you want to make sure it doesn't happen again. BTW, you are missing the cover for the fuel vent hose.

My uncle had a crack in the big breaded fuel line, although it was at the tank side, after removing the rear seats and the cover under the seats it was obvious the lines were dry rotten.
Might be worth removing the plastic covering panel and check for cracks in the lines as your look pretty old/original to be honest.

Thanks reelizmpro. How do I make sure it doesn’t happen again? I just don’t fill it up all the way? Or if it does happen again I should replace the filler pipe or gasket? Is missing the cover a big deal? I’ll probably get one and put it on at some point.

The gas station nozzle should have automatically shut off. Perhaps something was wrong with that particular nozzle. Next time you fill up, pay attention to it.
